Since TinaCMS' was released, our goal has been to continually improve the content management space. TinaCMS, although the name implies, is not a CMS, but a toolkit to build CMS functionality into your site. TinaCMS enables live editing which creates an intuitive and contextual experience for editors. Developers are given full creative control to implement Tina in a way that works for them and their site.
Creative control, although liberating in many ways, can also have its pitfalls. Our Tina community has voiced their needs and we have responded with Tina Cloud.
Tina Cloud is a broader and more complete solution for implementing Tina sites. It was built with TinaCMS in mind and therefore allows for quick and easy configuration of Tina. The TinaCMS toolkit can be implemented and used exactly the same way within Tina Cloud.
Tina Cloud expands on a few areas that we deemed were lacking in our open source TinaCMS product. Tina Cloud includes its own backend thus eliminating time spent deciding which backend to use and wiring it up on your own. Tina Cloud also introduces a dashboard for easy UI management of apps and users. Your non technical users no longer need to possess GitHub accounts in order for their edits to be maintained in GitHub.
We also introduced the Tina Cloud Content API which handles some of the issues mentioned above but also includes the GraphQL Gateway API.
So to sum up, TinaCMS is a flexible toolkit used for implementing CMS styled live editing into your site. Tina Cloud takes this experience one step further by shortcutting a few of the setup processes typically used with Tina sites and thus allowing a faster and more productive Tina experience.
